Former acting Health Care Complaints Commissioner Elizabeth Langdon has been appointed as Victoria’s new Victims of Crime Commissioner.
As commissioner Ms Langdon will advise the government and advocate for victims rights in the justice system, as well as overseeing agencies’ compliance with the Victims Charter to ensure the rights and entitlements of victims are upheld.
Ms Langdon is a highly regarded executive leader with more than 30 years experience across the public and private sectors in Australia and overseas.
She served as CEO of the Victorian Royal Commission into the Casino Operator and Licence in 2021, and was Deputy Commissioner of the Victorian Public Sector Commission between 2020-21.
Ms Langdon has also held senior state government including deputy secretary in the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
Ms Langdon starts in the role next month, replacing former Commissioner Fiona McCormack.
Victim support minister Enver Erdogan welcomed Ms Langdon to the role.
“She will undertake the vital role in ensuring our system is working to support victims of crime and provides a way for their voices to be heard, and their voices amplified,” Mr Erdogan said.
