Public servants from around the country are among those recognised in the Australia Day honours list 2009, announced yesterday.
The highest public sector honour went to former Labor leader, Kim Beazley who was one of three Australians appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia.
The citation honours him for his "service to the Parliament of Australia … as an advocate for Indigenous people, and to the community".
