Housing Australia, formerly known as the National Housing Finance Investment Corporation, was established as a corporate Commonwealth entity in 2018 to facilitate and deliver programs to help Australians access community housing via finance and capacity building grants.

It works with the private sector, community housing providers and government to deliver programs to increase access to social and affordable housing or help people buy a home.

Since it was established, the organisation has supported the delivery of nearly 20,000 homes for vulnerable Australians and supported over 150,000 Australians into home ownership.

Mr Langford has 20 years experience spanning private and community housing with a background in residential property development, management and investment.

He is currently Group CEO of Tier 1 community housing provder St George Community Housing (SGSH) and has previously been General Manager of Housing and Urban Development for Junction Australia, and Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Australia, where he led programs to support home ownership for lower income households.

Chair Carol Austin said Mr Langford has the skills and experience needed to help the organisation assist vulnerable Australians find safe and affordable housing as it embarked on its next stage of development.

Mr Langford said he was honoured to take up the reins.

He replaces outgoing CEO Nathan Dal Bon, who has been Housing Australia’s CEO since its inception.

“I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead Housing Australia as it steps up its roles of supporting pathways to home ownership and to providing investment flows to increase the supply of social and affordable housing,” Mr Langford said.

“I look forward to partnering with the private sector, Community Housing Providers and all levels of government to deliver on Housing Austalia’s mandate so that more Australians have a place to call home.”

The appointment has been welcomed by Urban Taskforce  Australia, which says it comes at a critical time during a national housing supply crisis.

“Scott’s focus will be on the delivery of housing supply and turning funding and policy into outcomes in the affordable and social housing space,” CEO Tom Forrest said.

“Scott has proven he can work with all tiers of Government and private sector development partners to deliver feasible projects to the benefit of all those involved.”
