Linda Scott receives prestigious honour at Women in Local Government Awards

ALGA President Linda Scott is among a list of women from councils across NSW who have been recognised for outstanding achievements in local government.

The Ministers’ Awards for Women in Local Government were established in 2008 to recognise outstanding efforts of women across metropolitan and regional and rural councils.

Cr Scott was presented with the Councillor Lilliane Brady OAM Award at an awards ceremony at Parliament House.

The winner of the award, named in honour of the late Cobar Mayor Lilliane Brady, is determined by the minister to honour the dedication and tireless work of a female council staff member or elected representative.

Cr Brady was the inaugural recipient of the Minister for Local Government Award for Women in 2020. She was also the state’s longest serving female mayor, and an advocate for women in local government.

“These awards are a chance to recognise the invaluable contribution women make to councils across NSW every day and I’d like to congratulate all the winners for their hard work and dedication,” he said in a statement.

Minister for Women Jodie Harrison said she hopd the awards would inspire a new generation of women into local government.

“There are so many talented and remarkable women working and serving in local government and we want to encourage them to continue to strive for excellence in their careers as they achieve great outcomes for their communities,” she said.
