The federal government has appointed Professor of politics Anne Tiernan and health economist Dr Angela Jackson to five-year part time terms on the Commonwealth Grants Commission.
The grants Commission is an independent authority that advises the Government on the distribution of GST revenue among the states and territories.
Professor Tiernan is the Managing Director of Constellation Impact Advisory and an Adjunct Professor of Politics at Griffith University. She has previously worked as Assistant Commissioner (Collaboration) at the Queensland Public Service Commission and served as Chair of the Queensland Independent Remuneration Tribunal and Ordinary Commissioner of the Crime and Corruption Commission.
Professor Tiernan and Dr Jackson join Chairperson Michael Callaghan member Dr Lynne Williams on the Commission.
Announcing the appointments on Friday, Treasurer Jim Chalmers said they would maintain the high level of skill and experience available to the Commission and ensure it continued to provide quality advice to the Government on the distribution of revenue from the GST.
