New CEO puts Queensland Rail on track for 2032 Olympics

Kat Stapletone has taken up a new role as CEO of Queensland Rail, replacing Nick Easy who resigned in 2021.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said Ms Stapleton, who joined the statutory authority as CFO in 2019, and has held senior positions with nbnCo and Bahrain Telecommunications, was highly experienced at a key time for rail infrastructure in the state.

“Investment in rail is booming as our population surges and we prepare for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, ‘ he said.

“Which is why Kat’s wealth of experience, her knowledge of Queensland Rail and her customer centric focus will be welcomedd.

“This appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the 156-year-old organisation, and I look forward to working with Kat to continue Queensland Rail’s important work to connect communities.”

Queensland Rail Board Chair David Marchant welcomed Ms Stapleton’s appointment, which followed a competitive recruitment process.

“On behalf of the Board, I welcome Kat to the role and look forward to working together to deliver on Queensland Rail’s strategic priorities,” Mr Marchant said.

Ms Stapleton will commence as CEO of Queensland Rail effective immediately.

Ms Stapletone had been acting in the role alongside Scott Riedel and Rupert Holloway during recruitment.
