VoIP contract hears further investment

VoIP contract hears further investment

Government staff and departments will use Voice over IP (VoIP) telephony services following a Tasmanian Government contract with MyNetFone.

The contract is expected to be worth up to $20 million in the long term following an initial agreement term of three years, with extensions up to ten years.

Selection was based from a rigorous tender process, which will be followed by MyNetFone’s investment in additional infrastructure in Tasmania for support of the contracted services.

The inclusion of the infrastructure investment is expected to result in an earning accretive outcome in the first year of service, according to MyNetFone.

Communication extensions over IP to employees in all offices in the Tasmanian Government will be allowed through the MyNetFone Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)

Employees will have access regardless if they are located on a main site, branch offices or working remotely.

TMD general manager, Piero Peroni said MyNetFone has proven to be capable in developing services meeting the government’s requirements.

Mr Peroni said the agreement will put the government in a position to meet the evolving needs of its communities.

According to Mr Peroni, it will contribute to the growth and diversity of the local industry with MyNetFone’s expanded operations and commitment to the state.

MyNetFone Group CEO, Rene Sugo said the agreement with the Tasmanian Government shows telephony has reached the maturity and scalability to service even the largest public and private sector organisations.

Symbio Networks, the VoIP carrier MyNetFone owns will also deploy the company’s investments in additional infrastructure.

The National Broadband Network is also being sought in Tasmania to give smaller providers who are not capable of becoming a direct NBN Co reseller.
