From requesting a tree planting to reporting suspicious tree work, residents in Sydney’s leafy Mosman have a simplified way to raise tree issues with their council.

The Trees Mosman app is part of a suite of applications being rolled out by Mosman Council as part of its goal to ensure all interactions can be completed online by 2023.

Last week the council launched its latest app – a sophisticated online parking permit system that made it the first local government to introduce virtual permits in NSW.

Mosman Council’s director environment and planning Craig Covich said that Trees Mosman contains all tree information in one app.

It simplifies the tree permit process and better define tree-related policies while providing images and descriptions of exempt tree species, he said.

“Created by Mosman Council’s tree experts, Trees Mosman offers a simplified way to submit a tree permit application, request a street tree planting, report suspicious tree work and determine tree protection zones when planning construction or development works,” Mr Covich said.

Expansion of apps

The latest app, Park Mosman, enables motorists to view available parking and see the probability that they will be able to park in their desired location or change to an alternative area with a higher probability of spaces.

Users can also select a reminder to return to their vehicle at the appropriate time while the app also highlights key points of interest important to residents.

Other features include alerts of works in the area, some of which may affect traffic, and a tutorial which provides a summary of key features and functions within the app.
