NSW Council eyes UK job seekers

Griffith City Council is hoping to attract skilled workers from the UK and across Europe to fill vacant positions.

The NSW council will attend the Work Worldwide Expo in Manchester and London, in attempt to source skilled labour to fill vacancies in the region’s health sector as well as the council’s own planners and engineers.

Faced with the waning workforce, the council formed a partnership with the C Change Bureau to capitalise on the careers fair.

At the previous expo held in New Zealand, Calvary Hospital successfully attracted a large number of nurses receiving over 170 registrations.

The council expects to achieve similar results, taking advantage of the UK’s high unemployment rate.

A skilled migration officer will also be present at the expo to ensure candidates are informed of requirements in moving to Australia.
