Senior Customer Services executive John Tansey has started a new role as the next Commissioner of the Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC) for a five-year term following recruitment by the NSW Public Service Commissioner.
Mr Tansey has held senior leadership and regulatory roles across the NSW government including most recently as executive director policy and delivery at the Department of Customer Service.
Health Minister Ryan Park said Mr Tansey was a recognised leader in regulatory policy and practice, with experience and achievements in reforming and implementing regulatory frameworks, schemes and operations.
“I’m confident he will bring this proven track record to the vital work of the Commission,” he said.
“I look forward to working with John to support the ongoing integrity of our health system and to protect the health and safety of our community.”
Point to point chief has contract renewed
Meanwhile, Anthony Wing has been reappointed as Point to Point Transport Commissioner for another five years.
The role oversees the point to point transport sector, which includes taxis, limousines, rideshare services, airport transfers and other hire vehicles, and is responsible for administrating and enforcing relevanrt transport law and ensuring safety and competition in the market.
Commissioner Wing has an extensive background in regulation with roles at ACMA and the ACCC. Before leading the Point to Point Transport Commission he was Executive Director of Policy at Transport for NSW.
Transport Minister Jo Haylen said Commissioner Wing has played a central role part in regulating the point to point industry during a time of major change.
“I congratulate the Commissioner on his reappointment and look forward to working with him to continue to advocate on behalf all taxi and rideshare passengers and for the best interests of the point to point industry,” she said.
Mr Wing’s compliance team has issued more than 690 fines to drivers since November 2022 for fare-related offences.
